I'm going to be purchasing a data logger in the next few days and just wanted to see if anyone would reveal which data logger they are running and some of its features. I'm leaning toward RPM Performance's basic unit which records drive shaft speed and rpm. I'll be adding on to it to record dual wide band O2s, N20 bottle pressure, fuel pressure, throttle position, oil pressure and H2O temp. My philosophy on this is that it is easier to have to much information and be able to filter it, rather than not have enough and you need it. 1. Is there anything that should be there that I haven't listed? 2. Is there a need to add the accelerometer? Thanks for your input. |

| I'm only using the data file from the 7531. But if you are gonna run a data logger on a nitrous car, aside from what you have listed, make absolutely sure you have a driveshaft speed sensor. |

I would have to agree with the RPM logger. I have one and the customer service is second to none. I was having a strange problem last year and Randy drove down to Denton to help sort it out. And the one time I agree with Unc.

I cut the cables to length, shipped them on Monday to have the ends put on and had them back by Friday. This service is included as a no charge to the customer. I've called then for tech questions while I was at the track on Friday night and got the service I needed along with a follow up call to make sure everything worked out. |

| For you guys that are using this data logger......does it truly help you with your setups? Have you been able to lower your et because of having the logger or has it saved you from hurting your motor or both??? |

Well, when I 1st put mine on, it showed my car was unloading the tires 4 different times in low gear. It would hook then spin a little, hook and spin and so on. You could not feel it spinning when going down the track, but the data logger showed it. So Dan at Wolfe Racecraft made me a TCD torque arm. I put it on the car, took off the Caltracs, went out that Wednesday night to TXR and ran a 5.41. Before I had the data logger the fastest my car had been was a 5.69. You can use this box along with your digital MSD 7 box to really fine tune your run. I also discovered using the RPM data logger my car did not like to be launched at anything over 3100 RPMS. If I launched any higher my 60 foot would fall off as much as .08. So, to answer your question, yes, it is a tuning device that will tell you if you are spinning the tires therefore lowering your ET by allowing you to manage your power better. I'll never race again without one. |

| i spent just a little over 1300 for my rpm unit. it has engine speed, driveshaft speed, accelerometer, one nitrous press., one fuel press., front shock travel, and rear shock travel. unlike racepac, the pricing on the rpm website is pretty straightforward. call randy and tell him what you are doing and he will help you out. great guy. |

| It sounds like a lot of you guys are running these. I can see how it would help a lot stuff on the car that you may otherwise not ever find. The customer service of this system sounds like the best part. You can't beat great customer service especially when you don't have a lot of knowledge about the product, plus they are based out of Oklahoma as am I so I think that pretty much makes my decision easy when I decide to drop the money for one. |

It gives you data. It is an eye that will see everything you ask it to look at and give unbiased information back. Of course you have to be able to interpret the data it gives you. In my opinion, the bare bones minimum would be the logger with engine, drive shaft RPM and accelerometer. Hope that helps. |

| Thanks for all the good info. I think when I'm ready I'll just call them up and let them know exactly what I'm wanting to accomplish and they can tell me what all I need. This is a great discussion.
Thanks to each of you who "revealed your secrets". I do realize that your information was earned the hard way. For me, it is great information and allows me to be on the right side of the bell curve rather than the wrong side. Being on the wrong side can and does cost $$$$.
