I think the Drag Radial tire thing is going to be a little though to figure out for some. It didn't go well.. With the wind blowing like it was, the track was cold and drag radials don't like those kind of conditions. I have never seen so many oil downs and broken B/S in one day. I am glad I dont race on Sunday. |

Well i beg to differ the drag radial in cold weather does work it just depends on how the track is preped right they will work.... Well it was in the fifties in carolina and they had no problem....even the record was set at 4.81 on radials..with f-2 big block and 4.90 on nitrous |

Would that happen to be at that track they call "the house of hook"? Just curious |

It was the "House of Hook".. I was there also.. I was at Alanta Dragway a few weeks before that (NMCA) with almost the same temps and the radial cars were wheel standing.. I guess it just takes some time to figure out the suspension set-up and track prep to make it work? MPK |

TXR seemed to be hooking...just ask the red Mustang that went up on the bumper- ouch! Heard he may be running T/S. Wish mine was ready. I guess if I had spent the time in the shop instead of going out there it would be done quicker...funny how that works. As for TTT5 cars, I saw 2 for sure, Tangerine Stripes and Roy Spencer. Roy was N/T but seemed to be doing his usual good. Tangerine Stripes had a couple of issues and didn't get a good strong pass. Several cars came from Oklahoma and one of their Novas was carrying the front tires out about 80ft on one pass. Hope next Sunday is nice too. Good turnout of spectators too. |

I learned a lot. I got the miss out of my car finally! I also learned I'm definitely gonna have to get a progressive controller. I loaded the car on the brake, turned loose of it with a 250 shot. Instantly blew the tires off. Coasted for a couple of seconds, and said the heck with it. Shifted into high about 250 ft down the track, stomped it again, lifted the front tires almost a foot in the air and went 8.33 at almost 110. So I got the power, just gotta put it to the ground. |

Yea the phrase has been around for a while. If you look at both posts we asked the same thing and both posts have the same time stamp so they were made seconds apart. I'm just a kid at heart in a classic or I guess some would say antique body. Ok back to the subject. I also saw Roys pass and it was nice with no drama and on E/T Streets. Also saw Tangerine Stripes pass and it blew the tires away and best I could tell he was on radials. |

Yep, it was on radials. I have no nitrous controller yet either. The pass before that one wasn't bad. It pulled 11.5 degrees of timing out for the bottle but the microswitch didn't hit when I nailed the throttle so it was a motor pass with 11.5 degrees of timing knocked out of it and still went 6.57. |

Tangerine what was your 60' on the pass with 11.5 of timing out of it? That is what it's all about seat time and learning about your car. |

Does antone know what the faster cars are 60'ing? I will take a guess and say 1.35 60's. Tangerine did the car spin any on the launch? |

| A little bit of spin, Roy says his car is low 1.30's. Which is about where I think mine should be with a progressive controller. |

| This is just talk but if it were my car I would try to kill a little more power till the car was up on the tires then ramp the timing back in followed by the NOS. Of coarse that may be easier said than done. |

As violently as it overpowered the tires on the launch, the additional 14 degrees of timing I could pull out still wouldn't be enough. When it lifted the front tires a foot in the air at about 15 mph roll in second gear, I realized it was making a lot more power than even I thought it was gonna make. Like I said from a 15 mph roll at about 250 foot down the track it made it all the way to 110 mph, just in 400 feet. Just in high gear. |

Low to mid 30s are typical good numbers...if conditions are just right, otherwise, 1.40s, 1.50s (like me) or up in smoke. It's all about suspension setup and bringing in the power at just the right time. It is a BIG learning curve as I am learning. A couple of guys have said they have gone 1.31 on slicks AND the ET Streets so it is doable, but the conditions must be right. |

I would strictly work off of N/A H/P till I was past the 60' and you will have to kill some of that off to get a clean launch. It takes around 670 hp to push a 3300 lbs car to a 1.35 60' so a well set up car is putting 670-700 hp to the ground very early in the run. |
