Since this board is quiet, I'll pose this question to liven it up a little. Why can't a lexan windshield be used in True Street? After my recent mishap with the absence of hood pins in place and the subsequent bashed windshield, I think this is a safety issue more than it is any "advantage". I know that in keeping with the street car appearance a stock windshield is a better choice, but with the possibility of glass in the eyes I would like to know if this rule could be changed to allow lexan as an option? Thanks. |

| You need to just make sure the pins are in. |

Tell me about it. Good thing I had picked up my new hood 4 hours earlier and I could get the new windshield in Saturday afternoon before the Denton race. Where have you been? |

Yeah, I am going to put the shield back on mine. Didn't think much about it till now. The main reason I ask is a buddy is building a 70 Nova that might run True Street. It doesn't have a windshield in it yet and he'd rather go Lexan. |

Any opinions why Lexan can't or shouldn't be allowed for next season? |

This kinda like the back seat rule we had a few years back. We changed it to accomdate some racers that said they would run True Street if it weren't for this rule, so we changed it. What happened? All it caused was a big up roar from the guys that ran the class and in the end we didn't gain any new cars. All we got out of it was a bunch of gripping and moaning. The way I see it, if a man wants to run the class, he can get his car inspect with the rules just like everyboby else in the class has done and not expect the rules to change for him/her so he can race. The racer need to change, not the rules.
That's my opinion.

He asked so I asked. I still see no reason why Lexan should not be allowed. It's not like it would be a mandatory change requiring everyone to change, only an available option. |
