In Denton on the last race I TRIED find a class that my car could run in- other than outlaw. Because of a 10" piece of 11/2 tubing at as the top of the rear frame they said I cant run, and that rules are rules.(But only if you are not in the top of the class, of a few of the special people- then rules can be bent or broke. Look at the head rules and how they ENFORCE IT. They change faster then you can keep up with).
They also tried to tell me that the real street/ extreme class are growning. I guess that is why they had that super large 5( maybe 6) car class that weekend. Either way there were not enough cars to make the class, as just enough to make the extreme class.
I really wanted to run the 10.5 classes. Not for the money- the pay out is not better or worse than other 10.5 races- but because TT10.5 are closer. I tried to find a what that would work without having to rebuild my car- or build another one. Unfortunately there is a older man( not Cedric- I think he tried to help as much as he could)there- he was on the scales- that see everything as his way or no way. I made several suggestion and ideas that would fix the problem. Everytime he could only see me rebuilding the back of the cars frame to remove that 10" peice of bar that would help or hurt nothing. Like i told him "he can take the TT10.5 classes and stick then". Good luck to anyone that want to run with y'all without building a car just to run there, I can see why I am hearing bad things about the TT10.5 now days and that is a shame. They way I see it they need to be a LITTLE flexible with the rules or your true street/ extreme street classes will die.
As far as the racers go- I have NEVER had any problem with the racers. I dont think there is a better class of people anywhere.
Good luck to all. Now you can tell me how sorry a person I am and all the rest of the shit I will hear about this post. But hey thats the way I see it and I know I am not by myself.
See ya at the races--but not TT10.5- and that to is a shame because I really wanted to run with yall. Later J

Where is this 10" piece of tubing? What is it in the car for?

I think they enforce the rules fairly. I haven't seen anyone getting preferential treatment.
I have been racing with them for several years and have had to make changes because of the rules. I didn't agree with the changes, but if I wanted to race I had to do it.

This isn't to bash you, just trying to understand and share my experiences.

Or should I call him by his professional name, "Larry the Vega Guy" !!!

Out with old, in with the new.

I am sorry to hear you are so disappointed in TTT5. We have worked hard for the last 8 years to make this a race club that trys to make it as even as possible for all racers. We have a committee that puts the rules together based on input from all racers. I am sorry that our rules do not fit your car. But, you know, it dosen't matter what the rules say, there will always be someone who is unhappy because they don't make a class with rules that fit that particular car. A lot of our racers have had to make changes to meet the rules, some of them I know, didn't agree with a rule, but it was put in force for the better of the entire TTT5 club. We cannot make changes for anyone's particular car. And we have NO special members be them at the top or bottom of the class!
As for the last race, we had 9 cars in the True Street eliminations and 14 in Extreme. So, we made a full race in both classes. And there was even a race at Houston that some of our racers from as far as the Austin area choose to race with us instead.
I don't know who you talked to at the scales, but I am sure it was a committee member who was just upholding the rules as they are written. They will only be changed by a committee vote......NOT because one person needs them changed. I think they tried to work something out with you so you could race with us and you weren't willing to make the changes, so what else do you expect us to do?
I wish you luck in whatever class or type of racing you choose to do. WE are all just trying to have a little fun and do some racing.

The peice of sqaure tubing is at the top of the rear frame and does take the palce of the stock frame. That is the only peice of the stock frame that is missing. I told the guy that I would get the peice of frame and weld it back in completely and blend it back into the stock frame. If I could find another car to cut it out of. That was not good enough, He wanted me to cut the tubing out, put the new oeice in and then weld the tubing back in. Does that make sence????? Antway he got amd and I got mad and theat was it.
No I do not drive a Vega. I drive a SBC blue Monza, and I popped the motor that weekend. Anyway, like I told the man- you know who you are- that if wecould have found a way to fix the problem without having to rebuild the rear of my car I would love to run. I guess we couldn't so I will race with the WestTT10.5 guys because I can run there. Peace J

There is no need is trying to settle any type of dispute on this board. Our committee members which include Cedrick, Benny, Joe, Casey, & Unc will gladly meet with you at a track to see if all can agree on a fix for your car if you are interested in trying to fix it. I understand Cedrick told you a way to fix it as long as it was fixed by the beginning of another season. So, it is now up to you.
I am sure the West TT10.5 is a fine organization to race with, I wish you good luck in the future.
